About Us

In partnership with FIU Housing, the Honors College EdgeLab has implemented a makerspace open at Parkview Residential Hall. This was the first time a makerspace has opened in residential life at FIU. This makerspace includes 3D printers, sewing and embroidery machines, vinyl cutters, A/V equipment, and a variety of tools and resources for students to immerse themselves in making and creativity.

There will be organized educational sessions and workshops to give residents design and production programming. These seminars include learning how to use a 3D printer, how to use 3D modeling software, coding, and general design exercises.

Any Parkview student resident from any major or background is welcome. Only criteria is that they want to make great things or learn to get on the right track for “making.”

Volunteers

  • My name is Samuel Vogel (He/Him/They/Them). I am currently majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I hold the position of liaison for the PV Honors Edge Lab. In the Edge Lab, I hope to explore the 3D printers, Vinyl Cutting, and Laser Engraving.
  • Hey guys! My name is Tasnim and I’m a pre-med biology major at FIU! I handle the Parkview Edge Lab Instagram account and have an interest in sewing/embroidery!
  • Hi guys! My name is Kristen and I’m a marketing major. Fashion is my biggest passion and something I hope to pursue as a career, and I am interested in the sewing and embroidery machines!
  • “Hi! My name is Jeslyn Chacko and I am a computer science major. I currently handle the Edge Lab website and am interested in the vinyl cutter, 3d Printer, and sewing machine!

Button Making: $0.50/Button

Vinyl Cutter: $0.50/Minute
